On the 51st day after the Nagasaki atomic bomb, the US military explored the white bones from the victims around the riverbed of the Urakami River near the hypocenter.

長崎原子爆弾の爆心地付近を米軍が被爆後51日目の1945年9月29日に調査した。長崎原爆が8月9日に炸裂して多くの被爆者は水を求めて浦上川の河川敷に飛び込んだ。米軍はその息絶えた遺体の多くの白骨を棒で探索した。
